2014 Home Decor Trends

Those of you who regularly read our blog will know that I am a big Coco Republic fan. Therefore it will come as no surprise that I love to spend time reading Field Notes, a virtual interior style journal put together by the Coco Republic team.

A few weeks ago field Notes published an article on the 2014 Home Decor Trends.

Innovative Lighting

Mettalics

Coastal Decor

Foliage

Creative Patterns

Are you embracing any of these trends at your place this year?

We're Back!

We have enjoyed a wonderful break with our families and are now back and raring to tackle 2014 head on!
A lot has happened to us over the last few weeks, some things good and some not so good. Here is a snapshot from our break.

For Giulia, the holiday didn't start out so well. Her husband's accident put an end to her family's long awaited overseas holiday! (She will write a post tomorrow explaining exactly what happened)

Giulia did manage to find a bright side to  her family's disaster and enjoy her beautiful home.
A lot of this was consumed over our break!
I enjoyed a farewell holiday at our unit at Nelson Bay. Regular readers would know that we bought and renovated a gorgeous unit at Nelson Bay a few years back. It has been on the market and we sold it during the holiday period.

Giulia and I both filled in our time over the holidays shopping whenever we could. This photo was taken on a recent trip to Coco Republic in Sydney.
We also both enjoyed some lovely girly time with beautiful friends, most of whom we have had the pleasure to call friends for many years now.

Enjoying a break also means you have the time to stop and enjoy this beautiful place we call home.
The weather has been perfect for the beach and Newcastle sure knows how to turn on her magic.

Hope everyone had a lovely Christmas and New Year.

Shopping

Last week Giulia and I had a shopping trip to Sydney. It was a bit of a drama because I'd forgotten how long it takes to get from one place to another in Sydney traffic. Anyhow, we did manage to get ourselves out to the Coco Republic warehouse (2 minutes before it closed) and collect the chair I'd ordered.
It's a very simple, casual chair to sit along side my new lounge. It looks perfect and I can change the cushion if I want to inject some colour into the room.
Here's the chair in my lounge room.

What do you think?

Field Notes

When Field Notes from Coco Republic  arrives in my inbox I always get a little excited. Their photos and ideas are amazing and a great source of inspiration.

This room titled Spanish Steps, was styled by Natasha Levak, a Sydney based Interior Designer.

This elegant room is styled using a mix of classic and contemporary pieces. Natasha uses muted tones that draw the eye towards the view through the french doors.

This beautiful side table is something I have coveted for a while from Coco Republic and I was delighted to see it being used in such a beautiful space.

The stone washed linen sofa looks very comfortable and stylish.

Making a real statement is the tufted leather ottoman. The ottoman looks firm, which means it can be used as both a coffee table and foot stool.

For me there is nothing I'd change in this room.
Now if I could somehow transport it to my place I'd be one very happy girl!

Bedroom Makeover

Over the last few months I have been slowly giving my bedroom a mini makeover. It began with the winged back chair when I decided to have a slip cover made. The chair is being covered as I type, so hopefully will be ready to pick up in the next few days. Click here to read about the chair.

Next I purchased some cushions from Linum, you can read about the cushions here.

Then I stumbled across an ottoman at the Freedom Sale to go at the end of my bed. Funny how adding furniture to a room can make the room seem bigger!

On my way home from Sydney on the weekend, I nagged my husband into stopping at Coco Republic as they were having a floor stock sale. I couldn't resist these cushions to go on the ottoman.

They have the same taupe detail on the birds as on my Linum cushions and the soft green background adds a touch of colour.

Just waiting for the chair and then I want to buy a little white table to go beside the chair to create a reading nook.

Will post a bedroom makeover update when the chair is covered.

What do you think so far?
